Dr. Dale Green Presents "The Hill: Uncovered..."
Free event for everyone! Great opportunity to hear American history in the making. Join us in the Student Services Center Theatre on Feb. 20th at 5:30pm as Dr. Dale Green of Morgan State presents "The Hill: Uncovered...Lifting the Veil of Ignorance" Generously sponsored by Delmarva Power and hosted by the Library. This is a presentation on the potentially the earliest and largest settlement of free persons of color in America located in Easton, MD and dating back to 1790. It will cover not only archaeology and African American genealogy, but also varied topics such as African American Methodism, free blacks, archival research, history etc. Something for everyone! Light refreshments follow the question and answer segment. We look forward to seeing you there!
African American Read-In Coming Soon!
coming on Wed. Feb. 19th from 8am to 11pm. is the popular African American Read-In event. The National event of the same name is in its 25th year! Our version has UMES students only read a book by an African American student for at least an hour to receive a raffle ticket for a chance at aprize. The more hours you read, the more raffle tickets you earn! Easy Peasy and a good way to "get into" some great literature! See flyer below for more details or call the number on the flyer.
